UPDATE: Flautist Ian Clarke’s new CD “Deep Blue” enters the UK Classical Artist Chart – without the backing of a record label!
I’m very pleased to advise that “Deep Blue” entered the Classical Artist Chart today at number 8 and is at number 15 in the Combined Chart (this one includes the compilations and is the one featured on Classic fM on the Sunday Chart Show).
- We think that this is the first occasion in many years where a disc of flute music has entered the Classical Artist Charts – certainly as high as this
- We also believe that this is the first time ever that a disc of original flute music has entered the Classical Artist Charts
- It is absolutely it is the first time a flautist has entered the Classical Artist Chart playing his own compositions
- And all of this achieved without the backing of a record label
Ian is very pleased that “Deep Blue” has been so well received – initially by the flute community. Please spread the word and help us to extend this interest to a wider audience.
Following the CD launch concert at The Forge in London last Tuesday, Flutewise, posted the following on their Blog:
I was really lucky on Tuesday to go up to the Forge in London to hear Ian Clarke and Tim Carey launch Ian’s new CD, Deep Blue.
The concert was brilliant. It was really lovely to meet up with so many flute friends there. I sat there stunned by the range of sounds Ian can get out of a bit of metal – from sublime, melodic lines to noises that were, quite frankly, terrifying and extremely rude! We heard a mixture of pieces, all Ian’s own works, from his last CD and his new one. Ian and Tim (on piano) played superbly and stretched our emotions with Touching the Ether and then terrified us in Hatching Aliens and then had us laughing during the Great Train Race….
We are lucky to have such a great flute player/composer in our flute world. Ian’s also a really lovely person and deserves our support. How? I hear you ask. Buy his new CD (I’m buying 2 as presents for friends in Croatia for later in the year). Why don’t you do the same, buy yourself a copy and one for someone else as a Christmas gift, but do it today so we can get Ian into the Classical Music charts. To get Ian’s music played on Classic FM will be helpful for all of us in our flute world.
