Irish Folk Stories Live

Epic folk stories re-imagined…for orchestra with narration

Hear the magic…feel the passion…be enthralled

Irish Folk Stories Live is a bold and ambitious new project created by Irish composer Peadar Townsend.

He wants to share some of the magical and exciting folk stories from Ireland’s rich heritage with a worldwide audience in a brand-new format. These stories will be brought to life, using newly written cinematic-style orchestral music to accompany Irish narrators, who will recount these stories as if by the fireside. Each story will be available for digital download and a limited edition run of CDs will be produced and available for purchase online.

A short introduction to the project from Peadar can be viewed here:

Concept Overview

Peadar writes:

As a child growing up my Father used to fascinate me with all manner of Irish Folk Stories at bedtime or in the car on a long journey. Not from a book, but from his head and every time he told them they were different, full of exciting characters with lashings of wonder, magic and mystery. The idea of marrying these wonderful stories with exciting, descriptive music struck me as an amazing project to bring them to new heights and re-ignite their proud place in Irish culture around the world.

is just a very small sample of the project we have envisioned. Imagine a full-length story, narrated by iconic Irish actors and accompanied by the spellbinding sound of a full orchestra. This is the vision we have for preserving Irelands rich storytelling heritage; the kind that can be listened to anywhere from long car journeys, to the classroom and even in your own living room.
